Well here is a place where you could lodge your complaints online, believe it or not, its happening in India.

Government of India has a online Grievance forum at http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/
Government wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc.

Some one did mention that they tried raising a concern and goverment authorities reacted. So why wait, than cribbing, why not try this out.

HiTech Panruti

It feels like entering a Multinational company dealing with billions of money when we enter the Panruti Corporation Office. Artificial fountains and crotons and green grasses decorate the office premises. The officers mark their attendance using their thumb impression in the scanner kept at the entrance. Even a minute of delay is considered absence. Not just men, all vehicles from the commisioner’s jeep until the Trash van has a punch card system that captures the in and out time of the vehicles and the driver identification. Instead of a pile of files and dust, every officer’s table has a computer and all the officers look alike in their uniforms !


They have made a difference not just in their work place, but in the services they offer too. A touch screen, information kiosk is available for the public. Information on everyone’s Property tax, Water tax, Birth and Death certificates, Construction approval etc are available readily in the screen. Also, the Panruti corporation has ventured with Aircel to provide sms services. Just by an sms query, tax dues are informed and a thanks message is received after the payment is made.


Might sound a dream. But it is not ! It indeed took a lot of effort, time and dedication. It took 8 years for Shri.Panchavarnam, the chairman of panruti corporation to show these improvements. Panchavarnam did not have much formal education. He sought the help from Shri.SethuShankar, a computer engineer. Now, 40 years of deaths and births are recorded. Anybody who lost the certificate, have to just walk in and get the certificate print out ! Otherwise a complicated task has been made extremely simple.

Also, Panchavarnam displayed the telephone, electricity bill of the corporation office in a common notice board. This was an effective measure to reduce the overhead of the corporation office. Inspite of these accomplishments Shri.Panchavarnam is very unhappy that none of the other corporation’s chairman came forward to automate the services. He is in the process of implementing a few more activities for other’s envy.

  • The whole of panruti’s survey map will be on the internet. No one need to fight for their property demarcation nor go to the police station to solve disputes.
  • All panruti residence will be insured for Rs.10,000. Premium of Rs 3.40 will be paid by the members of the corporation itself.
  • Every petition to the corporation office will be given a number and the status of the petition will be sent over the sms !

One’s ability and passion for what they do is important for the welfare of the society. It is the right time we start changing for good and make it contagious too.
